Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted over at Wishful Endings to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about but haven’t yet read. Most of the time they’re books that have yet to be released, but not always. It’s based on the Waiting on Wednesday meme, which was originally hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine

This week my Can’t-Wait-For Book is Transmogrify!: 14 Fantastical Tales of Trans Magic edited by g. haron davis!

Surely I need no explanation as to why I’m excited for this one?! TRANS. MAGIC. We’ve slowly but surely been getting more queer SFF the last few years, but a) more is always good, and b) the upsurge in queer books has mostly featured cis characters. So yes, I’m very much in love with the idea of a collection that’s made up of fantastical nonbinary stories!

I really can’t wait to see all the takes on the interaction between nonbinary gender and magic – there’s so much you can do with that premise (including nothing at all – it would be perfectly valid for a character’s gender identity to have nothing to do with their magic or adventures)!

It’s been a while since I heard about Transmogrify!, and thinking about it still makes my heart glow. I’m just so damn HAPPY this book is going to exist! I don’t know how to put it any more simply than that. I’m so happy someone came up with the idea, and that someone else bought the pitch, and that all these authors wrote stories for it, and that someone put together such a beautiful cover for it! This looks like one of those books I wish I could take back in time to baby!Sia, and I am OVERLY EMOTIONAL at the thought of everyone who needs this book now (or rather, next year!) getting to actually read it.

Yes good excellent!!!
