Eight DNFs this month…
Tag: three point five star reviews
Sunday Soupçons #29
A messed-up portal fantasy (kinda) and trans historical horror!
Some Phoenixes Among the Ashes: Resurrections by Ada Hoffmann
Most of this collection wasn’t for me, but the stories that were make the whole book worth it.
Sunday Soupçons #26
The music industry as religion + aliens, and spirits of the land at war with each other.
October DNFs
Eight DNFs in one month feels like a lot.
Fun and Frustrating: The Splinter in the Sky by Kemi Ashing-Giwa
When your sibling is kidnapped by the Empire, obviously you go after them.
Even when the Empire’s capital is a giant flying black rhombus with way too many assholes in it.
A Letdown in the Last Quarter: Translation State by Ann Leckie
Translation State comes out of the gate swinging, but an otherwise excellent sci-fi is let down by a pretty lacklustre ending.
April DNFs
Living stars, nonbinary assassins, and fairy-narrated sapphic romance – alas, these three didn’t work out for me.
February DNFs
A number of my most anticipated reads of 2023 ended up DNF-ed, alas!
Sunday Souçons #18
A noir F/F and a fantasy inspired by surrealist paintings!
